With the forecast rain not appearing and the sun coming out, the men had a lovely evening playing on the Lode Heath pitch for the first time in many moons. With a very youthful side (minus Paul Russel and Greeba) there was hope of some fitness on the pitch, a dream that did not come through unfortunately...
The first half saw Stratford dominating the possession with some quick passing that cut through Bloss' defence. Bloss found it hard to counter attack and some silly errors led to a quick succession of goals in the second quarter. A flick was given against Bloss but Ben Rabone provided enough distraction to force the taker to put it wide. This meant the first half finished 3-0 to Stratford.
As the starting whistle blew for the second half, what a start to the second half with Bloss coming out strong after an inspiring team talk at half time. Sam Lloyd found himself quickly in the opposition D and scored a booming goal to make it 3-1. Stratford came back quickly by racing down the pitch to win a short corner. After a few attempts to score batted back by Ben Rabone, Paul Russel defied a flick into the goal with Jedi precision and Bloss was on the counter attack once again. With a few strong passes down the pitch, the ball was blasted into the D for Sam Lloyd to dive onto it and immaculately slip it past the keeper to make it 3-2.
This come back put some wind behind Bloss for the next five minutes and lead to some strong contest in the middle of the pitch. However, fitness soon became a problem and Sam Lloyd was desperate to avoid that jug and Stratford was soon back to scoring and the second half ended with the score finishing 6-2 to Stratford.
